No One Left Behind Statement on HFAC Minority Shadow Hearing, Veteran Advocacy

Media Contact: Matthew Marcellus | Media@nooneleft.org

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, Feb. 11, House Foreign Affairs Committee Democrats held a shadow hearing discussing the relocation pathways that directly affect our Afghan wartime allies. Although shadow hearings are held by the minority and are not formally included in the legislative process, it platformed the sustained bipartisan work by U.S. veterans to keep the promise to our Afghan allies.

We are grateful for our partners on the panel who shared their personal experience and spoke to the steadfast, bipartisan veteran support for our Afghan allies. The continued support for our allies as a moral and strategic national imperative was particularly clear in Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA)’s message also shared here.

No One Left Behind serves wartime allies who risked their lives alongside U.S. troops and diplomats. Our focus remains building on  the longstanding bipartisan support for these allies as we work to reopen the Afghan SIV program and bring our closest wartime allies to safety.

Keeping our promise to wartime allies requires expanding longstanding bipartisan partnership. We continue working with partners across the U.S. government, civil society, and the public to ensure this national security program securely and effectively resumes.
