Tell Congress:
Reopen the Afghan SIV Program!
On January 1, 2026, Presidential Proclamation 10998 suspended the issuance of Special
Immigrant Visas (SIVs) to eligible, fully-vetted Afghan allies. This leaves our closest wartime allies at risk of violent retribution by the very terrorists the proclamation seeks to address.
It is key that your Members of Congress hear from you – their constituent – that keeping the
promise to our Afghan allies by reopening the Afghan SIV program is an urgent priority
Call Your Senators and Representative:
*Please note, interns and junior staff often manage the phones. The call is still an important tool to show your support for our Afghan allies. The most effective message is calm, clear, and includes your name and zip code so that the team can pass your message on to the Member of Congress.*
Hello! My name is [XXX-Insert Your Name-XXX], and I am your constituent in [XXX-Insert
Your City and Zip Code-XXX].
I am calling to ask [XXX- Insert Senator/Representative’s Name-XXX] to stand with our
Afghan allies by calling for the resumption of the Afghan Special Immigrant Visa program.
Congress created the Afghan SIV program to bring the allies targeted for their service to
the United States to safety. Congress should act to continue this necessary program.
As your constituent, can I count on my [XXX-Senator/Representative-XXX] to support the
Afghan SIV program as a national security imperative? [Note: Whether they can commit to an answer or not, remain clear and respectful.]
Thank you for sharing my message with the [XXX-Senator/Representative-XXX].
[Optional-If you would like a written response] Thank you for passing on my message on to
the [XXX-Representative or Senator-XXX]. I would also like to request a written response on
their position on these measures. My email address is [XXX-Insert Email Address -XXX].
