Tell Your Representative: Cosponsor the Afghan SIV Amendments!

Tell Your Representative:

Cosponsor the Afghan SIV Amendments!

Congress is considering amendments supporting the Afghan SIV program in the Fiscal Year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and State Department Appropriations (NSRP). We need your help to include these critical provisions in these must-pass legislative packages.

For Appropriations, Rep. Jason Crow is leading amendments with longstanding bipartisan support to extend the Afghan SIV program through 2027, raise the SIV cap, and require the Department of State to report to Congress on the remaining criteria to resume SIV issuance.

For the NDAA, Rep. Ami Bera is leading an amendment expressing ongoing support for our wartime Afghan allies and stating that it is United States policy to support our Afghan allies through the Afghan SIV program and refugee admissions.

Congress needs to hear from you – their constituent – that they need to stand with our Afghan allies and support the Crow and Bera Amendments and continue the Afghan SIV program!

You can find your Representative here.

Dear Representative [XXX- Insert the Member’s Name-XXX],

My name is [XXX-Insert Your Name-XXX], and I am your constituent in [XXX-Insert Your City and Zip Code-XXX]. I am writing to ask Representative [XXX- Insert the Representative’s Name-XXX] to stand with the allies from our longest war by cosponsoring the Afghan allies amendments to the Fiscal Year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act and Department of State appropriations:

  • Crow #86 would increase the program’s cap to ensure SIVs are available for fully vetted Afghan allies.

  • Crow #84 would require the Department of State to report to Congress on the remaining criteria for resuming SIV issuance.

  • Crow #50 would extend the Afghan SIV Program for two years.

  • Bera #938 would express support for our wartime allies and require the Secretary of State to submit a report on SIV processing and the status of Afghan allies at Camp As Sayliyah (CAS).

These amendments are necessary solutions to help keep our promise to the Afghans who stood alongside our troops and diplomats.
