We have reached the final chapter in Ibrahim’s SIV journey.
After 15 long years of waiting, reapplying, and living in limbo, he finally received his Special Immigrant Visa and made it to the United States.
But arrival didn’t necessarily mean ease.
Ibrahim first went to Houston to reunite with his mother; his rock, his support. His mother and other members of his family had been resettled years earlier through the refugee program. Despite the joyful reunion, Ibrahim faced challenges that many newly arrived allies can attest to. He struggled to find work and access the support he needed to start over.
Thankfully, Ibrahim reached out to No One Left Behind and we were able to help turn his story around.Â
We matched him with a sponsor group in Illinois, bought him a plane ticket to his new home, and later flew in his wife and son from Indonesia after their visas were issued.
Now, Ibrahim is surrounded by community. He’s working, rebuilding, and giving back.
You can hear it in his voice - the relief of safety, the excitement for a future, the hope for what’s next.
And this is all made possible because generous donors like you empower us to do this work.Â
Please consider giving today. Our allies, like Ibrahim, aren’t just people who served the U.S. in their home countries. They are people who have a desire and vision to build a better world. For Ibrahim, his wish is for love to win over hate.Â
